Two Bosses Enter: Ingvar and Annhylde vs. Krik’thir the Gatewatcher

Two Bosses Enter … but only One Boss Leaves, in WoW Insider’s series of fantasy death matches. This season’s bosses come from the five-man instances of Wrath of the Lich King. Utgarde Keep duo Dalronn the Controller and Skarvald the Constructor went down in flames (or Whirlwinds) in last week’s Two Bosses Enter matchup, but we’re not convinced that all UK bosses are whining nincompoops. This week’s deathmatch pits another Utgarde Keep pair, Ingvar the Plunderer and Annhylde the Caller, against Azjol-Nerub’s Krik’thir the Gatewatcher. While this duo seems almost as argumentative as the Dalronn/Skarvald duo, their teamwork seems a little more smooth. Will it be enough to overcome Krik’thir and his minions? The ground rules: Assume that these foes share similar levels, health pools and a comparative overall damage output. This match takes place in neutral territory. Don’t get caught up in game mechanics and what actual players might do in each encounter. Focus on the three S’s: style, story and scale. What do you think would happen during this battle? Leave a comment explaining what you think goes down, then cast

Around Azeroth: I got a tiki god

So, it turns out that a Sen’jin Fetish is not only a perverse attraction to large troll tusks, but also a non-combat pet obtainable through the Argent Tournament. Our submitter Keltai of <Overclocked> on Stormrage happens to have recently bought the latter. With a little help from an acquaintance, a Pet Biscuit and some Pygmy Oils, he’s managed to turn his Fetish into an ill-fitting mask. His newly acquired Twisted Visage with Blood Draining enchant also adds to the voodoo effect. The dress still looks a little too druidic, though. Sorry, Keltai, not everyone can be as cool as a troll. Do you have any unusual, beautiful or interesting World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? Breakfast Topic: What do you think of WoW.com’s new features?

It’s been a couple of days since our big makeover and things seem to have gone down quite well. We’ve had loads of comments (indeed Alex Z is currently recovering from being Tech Support Guy after fielding bug reports for a day straight) and the new-look has gone down quite well. Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve had a new look but this time it’s not just a cosmetic revamp. I like to think of WoW.com as WoW Insider meets Facebook with a little of Livejournal thrown in for good measure, we’re not just a site, we’re a community. Cliched, okay, you got me there. Anyway now you folks have had a couple of days to get used to the changes, what do you think of our new look and, more importantly, all the cool features? Are there any you’d like implimented in the future? Have we missed something out?

Breakfast Topic: What non-combat pets do you want implemented?

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in the time I’ve spent playing WoW, it’s that people are serious about the cute (and useless) tagalong polygonal pals we call non-combat pets. Blizzard apparently likes them too, since we got ten new ones with the launch of 3.1, as well as achievements to give you even more of them for hitting pet-number milestones. There are enough pets for you to fill every bag slot with them, and enough people who collect ‘em to warrant pet toy vendors and whole websites dedicated to ‘em. But I’m not satisfied! In fact, I’ll never be satisfied — not until I get a non-combat Talbaby pet. I even did Blizzard the favor of designing it. See? Who wouldn’t want that adorable ungulate following them around? NO ONE. THAT’S WHO. How about you guys? Is there a specific type of non-combat pet, brand-new model or tiny version of an in-game model alike, you’d love to see? Is there a baby version of some fearsome beast you’ve scarcely lived without this whole time?

Around Azeroth: The molten bug lamp

Does the Molten Core need an exterminator? You’d think all those core hounds would keep the pests away, but no. Solanine of <Eternal Descent> on Icecrown captured the moment as her raid’s boomkin cast Insect Swarm on Ragnaros. Silly Raggy! Don’t you know that bugs are attracted to fire? And trying to swat them with Sulfuron is just inefficient. Just get Thorim in to do some Chain Lightning. What’s your best Blizzcon memory?

Did you manage to get your tickets? I’m sure there will be plenty of folks who are returning to BlizzCon. I wasn’t able to go but I followed WoW Insider’s coverage of the event from the opening ceremonies to the final concert. It was an awesome time for fans to get insight on some of the behind the scenes aspects of WoW, including an art gallery, a sound panel, and an introduction to Ghostcrawler. I have to admit that even with the massive amount of information on classes and mechanics, my favorite part was the goofy fan stuff. I love how some people really get into their costumes and dances. I think I missed out most by missing the WoW Insider meet up. It’s amazing that real people get so into our favorite game franchises. For those of you who went last year, or even were following along with me, what’s the best BlizzCon memory that you carry with you?

Breakfast Topic: Fishing is awesome

WoW is a many-faceted game. One of the facets that I’ve really been enjoying recently is fishing; after getting my Dark Herring last weekend, I only need to polish off my last few Northrend pools to ding Accomplished Angler on my rogue. I also pulled up a sea turtle last weekend, and let me tell you, that thing is fun, especially because I don’t have my flying mount yet (three more levels to go on that character), so it’s the fastest way I have to get around aquatic areas. I’m impressed with the way they’ve expanded on fishing in Wrath of the Lich King, especially with the new fishing dailies and the other changes that came to my favorite secondary profession in patch 3.1. My biggest gripe is that the Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat still evades me. The fishing gods even went so far as to taunt me with a Battered Jungle Hat last time I turned in the daily. That’s just not cool, man. Not cool. Has anyone else been having a great time fishing lately?
