15 Minutes of Fame is WoW.com’s look at World of Warcraft players of all shapes and sizes — from the renowned to the relatively anonymous, the remarkable to the player next door. Tip us off to players you’d like to hear more about.
Tales of players who succeed at WoW despite disabilities (physical disabilities, mental issues, you name it) always attract a certain amount of fascination. How is it that we can spend so much worry and effort grinding trivial hurdles while disabled players are taking care of business in situations that would Alt+F4 most of us? Worry is one thing you won’t hear much of from Quadilious, a quadriplegic player (yes, quadriplegic — you read that correctly) who’s into progression raiding (yes, progression raiding — you’re still reading things correctly) in ToC-25 Heroic and Ulduar hard modes.
Ever have one of those days when you wish your in-game struggles and real-life hurdles seemed a little less daunting? Have a good dose of perspective — Quad certainly does.

Hey there, time once again to give away one of these snazzy Creative World of Warcraft wireless gaming headsets. Not only is this thing kitted out with some of the best audio hardware in the business (including Creative’s awesome 3D positional audio, good enough to make you think you really are in the World of Warcraft), but it also comes with either Horde or Alliance “glyphs,” which you can place on the earcups near colored LEDs to show off your factional allegiance in style. And you could be the lucky commenter to win one this week!
As usual, the contest is open to legal residents of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, and Canada (excluding Quebec), and everyone who enters must be 13 or older. To enter, leave a comment on this post before Wednesday, October 21st, at midnight eastern, and please be sure to use a real email that you check often to enter, so we can contact the winners when we choose them. You may enter only once, and each winner will get a Creative World of Warcraft Wireless Gaming Headset, with a retail value of $150. Please note: winners will not receive the headset until it is released later this year. Click here to read the

It’s Hallow’s End and the Headless Horseman is back. As soon as my wife saw that our server had clicked over to 1 AM, she had me in my tanking finery and a group assembled lickety split for purposes of killing him and trying to get her a mount. A group of five stalwarts (warrior tank, mage, hunter and DK DPS, disc priest healing) fought our way through the trash mobs and soon had the area around the altar clear and ready for summons.
The fight mechanics this year are absolutely unchanged. The gear itself is updated for level 80, and is about the same quality as Naxx-10, heroic epics or non heroic Trial of the Champion. There’s a physical DPS ring, a caster DPS ring, and a healing ring that I saw drop as well as a plate DPS helm and a one handed sword that we didn’t see once even though we ended up rotating enough alts through to kill him nine times. The Horseman himself doesn’t seem to hit very hard at all (I easily healed the fight on my shaman even when the druid tank disconnected) but having your healer get Conflagrate for a group in lesser gear might be pretty nasty.
All in all, it was a fun way to try and get a pony. Sadly, no pony dropped for

We’re more than halfway through this latest season of The Guild, and the series is in full swing: the Axis of Anarchy is starting trouble, Wiggly is quickly learning the game, and Codex is stepping right up into her guild leadership role. But even as things are coming together, they’re starting to fall apart: this episode might have the weirdest ending of the series so far. You can watch the episode in the usual places, including right here after the break.
Two other things from The Guild’s website recently. Apparently that book that Codex was reading last episode is a real one, all about leading a guild and lessons you can take into real life (and our own Scott Andrews didn’t write it? Unbelievable!). And if you happen to be in Los Angeles in the next few weeks, The Guild will be screening parts of season 2 at theaters around the city along with showings of Dr. Horrible, that other web series that stars Felicia Day. At one of them, the cast will be live doing a Q&A, so that should be fun to see.

I like this post over at Tank Like a Girl that raises the question of just when your guild should make the big step to move on up the raiding ranks. Just last night, my very casual guild headed into Ulduar for the first time, and even though we’d never been in there before (we’ve been doing Naxx, OS, and EoE with some regularity, though when I say we’re casual, I mean we’re really casual), I think we did it at exactly the right time. We made it up to Kologarn — enough to know that we didn’t go in too early (and come out empty-handed, unable to down any bosses) or too late (and breeze through the place).
Now obviously, every guild is in a different place raiding-wise (and most guilds are way ahead of ours, I know), and TLaG is dealing with a different dilemma: whether to take down Yogg-Saron before moving on to ToC or not. And in her case, she’s got the added “gotta catch ‘em all” thinking. But it’s a tough thing as a raid leader — you don’t want to move on past content you know you can do eventually, and progression always beckons. In the end, you’ve got to figure out what’s best for the

While we have covered the fact that new totems are coming out for orcs and trolls in patch 3.3 so that the taurens don’t have to keep sharing with everyone. We’ve also mentioned the fact that dwarf totems have been added into the PTR files for when Cataclysm hits. At the time, we only had the front view images from MMO-Champion. This caused a bit of an issue with the Dwarf totems as it’s hard to distinguish what exactly they’re supposed to look like without a side view. So, after some datamining and image editing of our own, we’ve put together a little gallery of the new totems for you all to enjoy.
